  5. The WINDOW OPTIONS dialog  allows you to customize  the
  6. general behaviour of Edith.
  7.

  9. In standard  ATARI applications, the  ACTIVE WINDOW  is
  10. always the top window, i.e. when  you type text on  the
  11. keyboard, it appears in the top window.  When the MOUSE
  12. switch is selected  instead, text will  be inserted  in
  13. the window right below the mouse pointer.
  14.  
  15.    ** When WINX or MultiTOS is used, applications which
  16.       understand the AV_KEY message may even respond to
  17.       key input  in background  windows when  an  Edith
  18.       window is on top.   However, this may also  cause
  19.       uncautious programs to crash.

  22. Edith's ALERT boxes are normally presented in a window,
  23. so that other applications or accessories can still  be
  24. used when an Edith alert  is on the screen.  The  QUICK
  25. switch brings back  the old type  of alert boxes.   The
  26. ALERT BELL switch determines whether Edith should sound
  27. the bell when an alert pops up.

  29.    ** Quick  alert  boxes  do  not  react  to  keyboard
  30.       shortcuts except RETURN.

  33. Edith's FILE SELECTOR normally  makes use of a  window.
  34. When the STANDARD switch is selected, the standard  TOS
  35. item selector  is used  instead.   This option  is  NOT
  36. available when MultiTOS is being used.

  39. Windows can be  SNAPPED for  extra display  performance
  40. (text windows) and to avoid distorted dot patterns when
  41. moving windows which contain a SCROLL BAR.  The  latter
  42. is a problem of ATARI GEM  which can also be solved  by
  43. using WINX by Martin Osieka.
